Keel Mountain Estates Neighborhood Profile | Gurley, AL

Perched atop Keel Mountain near the town of Gurley, Keel Mountain Estates offers a unique lifestyle for those seeking seclusion, natural beauty, and a distinct escape from the city. This community is defined by its rugged, wooded landscape and a profound sense of privacy that is increasingly rare in Madison County.

Unlike traditional subdivisions, the homes here are wonderfully eclectic, ranging from rustic A-frame cabins to custom-built contemporary designs, all integrated beautifully into the mountain environment. Properties are situated on large, heavily wooded lots, often multiple acres in size, ensuring maximum privacy. Many homes are positioned to take advantage of stunning, panoramic views of the surrounding Paint Rock Valley. Embodying a spirit of independence, this mountain community does not have a formal Homeowners Association (HOA).

Life in Keel Mountain Estates is an outdoor enthusiast's dream, with direct access to the hiking trails of the Land Trust of North Alabama's Keel Mountain Preserve. While the community offers an unparalleled natural retreat, residents travel down the mountain for shopping and services. Basic amenities are found in the nearby town of Gurley, while the major retail and dining hubs in Hampton Cove or Jones Valley are a scenic drive away.

The secluded setting means commutes require extra time, a trade-off many residents gladly make for the mountain lifestyle. The drive to Downtown Huntsville typically takes 30-40 minutes, while reaching Cummings Research Park or Redstone Arsenal can take 40-50 minutes. The community is zoned for the Madison County School System.
