Are hiking trails in Monte Sano State Park open in the winter?

Answer: Yes, the park and all its trails are open year-round, from 8 a.m. to sunset. The trails are often easier to see in winter when the vegetation is down.

Hiking Monte Sano in Winter

Hiking at Monte Sano is a popular year-round activity. The park is open every day from 8 a.m. until sunset. The trails themselves close 30 minutes before sunset.

Winter is considered an excellent time to hike, as the lack of leaves makes the trails and blazes easier to see, and you get better views from the overlooks. Just be sure to check the weather, as the trails can become slick after a rain or in rare icy conditions.
