Is there ice skating available in or near Madison in January?
Answer: Yes, you can ice skate at the permanent indoor Huntsville Ice Sports Center. The popular outdoor "Skating in the Park" rink is also open, but only for the first few days of January.
Indoor vs. Outdoor Skating Options
You have two excellent, but different, options for ice skating in the area:
- Huntsville Ice Sports Center: This is a full-sized indoor ice rink that offers public skating sessions year-round, including all of January. This is your most reliable option for skating any time in the winter.
- Skating in the Park: This is a magical outdoor rink set up behind the Huntsville Museum of Art. It is a seasonal event that is very popular, but it closes for the season in early January. The last day for the 2025-2026 season is January 4, 2026.
